This is a matter of wonder to many people that casino gaming and gambling in New York is legal or not. The fact is that New York gambling is not totally illegal. Online gaming and gambling is legal but for some areas and aspects casino gaming can be illegal.

Any individual can’t use any type of sports betting on internet in New York. If any casino provides this service of betting, it is violation according to the law. This violation is a crime. For this crime, punishment can be large amount of fine or time in prison. Though, some companies appealed against this rule, they became unsuccessful.

Internet gambling in New York has not been ruled centrally illegal. In some places it has been legalized by UIGEA to prohibit the online gaming related transactions in bank.

There have been made many attempts of gambling legalization to both House of Representatives and Senate level to pass rules and regulations of online gaming and gambling industry. Though, each attempt went closer to the success, finally failed. In 2009, U.S. DoJ apprehended more than $34 million from the accounts of 27,000 players in southern district, New York. It has been stated that, $42 billion can be collected as potential tax in next ten years form legal license given companies of casino gaming.

Though online gambling has been legalized in some places but, betting on sport was still illegal.  It is a belief to many individuals that gambling in New York remained illegal because of problem gamblers. 80% of online gamblers, who play casino gaming are problem gambler.  But, money laundering in gambling on internet is not a problem to the casinos and Government. Though it is not legal to play casino games in all places of New York, some poker sites approve e-checks and recently it is best option of money transfer for gamblers and online gamers.

Gambling has been around for as long as man has walked the planet and there has always been some kind of strategy to go with it. Over time however the types of gambling has changed dramatically and along with it so has strategy.
