The European Blackjack Open (EBO) was recently launched at the Empire Casino in London, crowning Mr. Anthony Martin as the first blackjack champion of Europe. Mr. Martin won a €5,000 prize to play blackjack online and a bottle of premium champagne to celebrate or drown his sorrows. The blackjack tournament is planned to be broadcast soon on the Poker Channel.

The 1^st European Blackjack Open had drawn fifteen blackjack enthusiasts to the Empire Casino, the Las Vegas style gambling palace set in Leicester Square in London. The competition was held in the single elimination format, allowing each player only one opportunity to prove his skill (or luck) and grab the largest amount of chips in order to be qualified for the €100 stake, 5-player final.

About the same time at a different place, the 3rd Celebrity Chef Blackjack Tournament took place in Las Vegas. Organized by the local food and wine festival, Vegas Uncrock’d, the blackjack tournament gave Las Vegas casinos chefs an opportunity to play competitive blackjack against their colleagues and to donate money to the food related charity Three Square.

The Chefs’ blackjack tournament had multiple rounds as well as multiple signature plates. The best blackjack player among the celebrity chefs turned out to be Jet Tila, an executive chef at Wazuzu, the Asian restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas Encore. By winning the Celebrity Chef Blackjack Tournament, Tila had brought an end to the successive championship of Paul Bartolotta, also of Encore.
